Day 76: From Frey to Jakob

What a cruel, cruel day! I spent most of the walking time (about 6 and a half hours) wondering why the hell I am doing this?!?

But let me explain. The hike from Refugio Frey to Refugio San Martin (or Laguna Jakob) is only 14 km. The fact that it is supposed to take at least six hours already says a lot. Basically, you go up (think steep, rocky terrain) for almost two hours, then down on the same terrain for an hour, maybe 30 minutes of level ground to relax, and then the same again. The views were superb, of course.

But for most of the hike, I was in no condition to enjoy them... Maybe I'm not the mountaineering type after all?

The best part of the day was that I got to swim in this perfect lake right next to the Refugio:
