After taking a night bus from Panajachel, I arrived in the small town of Flores at six in the morning. As night buses go, I couldn't sleep all that well and crashed as soon as I sat down on my hostel bed. A couple of hours later, I woke up to this beautiful sight:
The picture shows the island of Flores, seen from the San Miguel peninsula where my hostel was located. The lake is called Petén Itzá - Petén being the name of the department, and Itzá being a Maya word meaning 'enchanted waters'. This is almost the same picture - it also shows Flores and the lake - except that I've taken it looking onto the other side of the island.
